“Overlapping project schedules?!?” We have submitted our Assignment 1 mid-submission and it is clear we are far from being finished. And now, Assignment 2 is already due! It is crazy how much we have to do for each of our assignments and we (my assignment 1 group) may have underestimated how much has to be done and even were too complacent of where we were. ‘Commune’, a one-stop solution to addressing the financial pains of event organising, has been birthed. We did a lot, but it is not enough; we also failed to make use of the mid-submission to our advantage to show off our application with front-end ready. Moreover, we had to recalibrate our idea to meet the milestone Facebook requirements. Our excitement over the impact of ‘Commune’ blinded us to the tasks we had to complete and the objectives we had to meet.
What I Learnt in Class
Presentation and UI/UX Design were the main topics covered in class. As a designer and someone who typically does presentations, I honestly thought I would not learn much from this session. I was wrong. Hearing from experts in these fields as opposed to simply learning through experience was actually very helpful. There were quite a number of insights that seemed so obvious but never really noticed. I won’t go on to list what I have learnt here except for the fact that I became aware of so many concepts in a short span. I really can’t stress how much I appreciate this format for CS3216.
What I Did Outside of Class
Juggling two project groups within the same module is so mind-boggling! We really had to maintain professionalism and quickly adjust to working with different people in a short span. With regards to Assignment 2, the task was clear and we were focused. The hard part was breaking down an app, determining how to explain such a complicated app in an interesting manner and provide interesting insights about them. Mendeley was assigned to our group and we had to start from scratch to learn about this application from the perspective of their main target audience — researchers. It was difficult to review the application but we were impressed but the wrath of functionalities it had to offer. With regards to Assignment 1, we are far away from completion. We are now scared. We need to get our s*** together. But first, we need to submit Assignment 2…
It is Week 3 of the Semester, yet, I am already feeling the heat with tutorials just beginning and datelines approaching. *Cries*
